For those of you that subscribe to the Athletic, there is an excellent article this week on the dilemma facing Russian players this summer as well as a summary of just how complex the immigration issues are for European players for the last couple of years.
Apparently, Russia has detained at least two NHL players (or signees), put them in the military and stationed them on bases in the Arctic Circle. The article includes some excellent insights from coaches and agents. I am hoping neither of the CBJ players from Russia went back home this summer.
