Home cooking was all the Columbus Blue Jackets needed.

Coming out with an energy that was completely missing from their game against the Boston Bruins, the Blue Jackets came out firing.

Despite a pushback from the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Blue Jackets were able to hold them off and make a statement in this mid-week win.

Finally starting quickly, the Blue Jackets were ahead 2-0 after the first period thanks to Lukas Sedlak and Seth Jones goals. Jones' goal is especially noteworthy considering the one man effort he put in.

The second period saw Leafs' forward William Nylander give a slick pass to defenseman Jake Gardiner and cut the lead to one. It wasn't much longer after that when the Blue Jackets would get on the power play and Pierre-Luc Dubois would take a Cam Atkinson pass at the net front extending the lead back to two making it 3-1.

The Blue Jackets got through the first ten minutes of the third period unscathed before Alexander Wennberg took a pass from Cam Atkinson during a 2-on-1 to make it a 4-1 game.

With less than three minutes in the game, Mitch Marner cut the deficit to two after his shot beat Joonas Korpisalo on the stick side.

The Maple Leafs pulled the goaltender with over two minutes left in the third period and the Blue Jackets were able to hold them off despite sustained pressure.

Injury Update

Zach Werenski did not participate in the morning skate this morning and is listed as day-to-day. Ryan Murray has been skating on his own since early December. No official timetable has been given for Murray's return.

Next Up

The Blue Jackets will be right back at it on Thursday as they go on the road and face the Pittsburgh Penguins. The game will be back to its normal 7:00 p.m. start time.
