After the worst loss of the season, the Blue Jackets got back into the win column with an important 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The morale was considerably higher in the post-game for this one, as evidenced by the tone of the players and John Tortorella alike.

John Tortorella

On team leadership: "I look at Seth Jones tonight. He was a leader tonight. Our veteran guys played better. That’s the opportunity they have here, is to get us out of the jam we have. It’s an opportunity to try to get ourselves well.”

On the power play: "I'm not talking about the power play."

On the team's play: "The Boston game, we couldn't get one foot in front of the other. We were just that bad. I think we're a good team. This is a process. I'm not sure what happens tomorrow night. Tonight, we answered the proper way. It wasn't with our mouths...it was with our play. I thought we played hard. We were harder to play against."

On Korpisalo: “He made some key saves. The second goalie not only needs to play the games, but needs to win games, if we wanna get where we wanna be in April. I thought he was really good tonight. I've always loved his mindset – nothing bothers him. He just goes about his business.”

On the Sedlak line: "I thought they had some good shifts tonight. Blocked shots by Hanny, a number of good things happened there. I really concentrated on trying to get them more ice time. I thought everyone contributed, so we pack up and go play another one."

Lukas Sedlak

On scoring the first goal of the game: "I think we really needed it. We were talking about our start and our energy today, and my line was good on the forecheck, and getting the first goal got us rolling a little bit."

On the team's overall game: "We still turned the puck over a little bit too much I think, so we have to work on that. It's key for us to get pucks to the zone and play in the offensive zone because we can really hurt teams."

Seth Jones

On playing with Markus Nutivaara: "We needed a couple of shifts to gain chemistry, but I thought me and Nuti did a great job tonight. We were in the offense a little bit, and I thought it was a great first game for us."

On the team having confidence on the power play: "I thought our breakouts were good. It's just execution. We're putting each other in spots to succeed. We're not giving each other bad passes, it's on the forehand. When the puck's always moving, and everyone's shooting the puck, it's hard to defend."

Joonas Korpisalo

On getting into the game: "All the guys played so good in front of me, made my job real easy today. Lot of shots, but not too many scoring chances."

On the play in front of him: "I thought it was a whole different team. Every guy stepped up, and that's the level we have to keep (playing) on."
