It was more of the same.

The Blue Jackets started the first period quickly and had multiple opportunities on the power play. They also had chances at even strength as well. Both were led by Nick Foligno, who played well in the first period.

LIGHTNING 0 4 1 5

The second period was nothing like the first as the Lightning decided to turn it on and they would go on to score four goals in the period. Tyler Johnson would score two, Nikita Kucherov would score one and Cory Conacher would join the party with one as well.

The two periods may be the starkest difference of the entire season. It's beginning to get hard to remember which performance has been the worst for the Blue Jackets.

In the third period, the Blue Jackets wouldn’t be able to put up much of a fight. Steven Stamkos for the Lightning would score in the third and put a cherry on top of a trash sundae for the Blue Jackets.

Injury Update

Ryan Murray is still day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He has been out since late November with the ailment.

Next Up
