Sometimes it doesn't need to be pretty for it to be effective.

The Blue Jackets know that all too well and they knew that despite a fairly low scoring game, that a win is a win. Getting one against their old rival the Nashville Predators is only making it that much sweeter.

BLUE JACKETS 1 1 1 3
PREDATORS 0 0 0 0

The first period was not much to write about and it was mostly the two sides feeling one another out. Before the end of the first period though the Blue Jackets were able to get a goal on the board thanks to the red-hot Cam Atkinson. A deflection and a bouncing puck and the Blue Jackets went into the first intermission with a lead.

The second frame was more of the same as the Blue Jackets kept the Predators to the outside. Max Domi would take one pass from Seth Jones and put it in the back of the net and gave them an insurance goal. It was much needed and a must-have if the Blue Jackets were going to pull out a win.

If the first two periods of the game were the Blue Jackets, the final period was all about the Predators. The first half of the period had the Blue Jackets not even getting a shot on goal. It didn't matter though as Eric Robinson would add an empty-net goal to put the exclamation point on the win.

The beauty of the game wasn't present tonight but when looking at the standings, it won't matter. For a team looking for consistency, a win is all that anyone will remember.

Injury Update

Zach Werenski is out with an injury and is day to day. Gustav Nyquist is out indefinitely after shoulder surgery.
