Blue Jackets Win Shootout Thriller Over Hurricanes

Another big win.

In a game that started slowly, the Blue Jackets ultimately triumphed over the Hurricanes, 3-2, in a shootout.

After neither team scored in the first period, the Hurricanes got it started late in the second. Andrei Svechnikov made it 1-0, Hurricanes, at 14:29. After 40 minutes, it would remain 1-0, Carolina, but the Blue Jackets were still in the game.

The third period saw scoring for both clubs. Oliver Bjorkstrand made it 1-1 just 39 seconds in to the third period, with an assist from Kevin Stenlund.

Then, Warren Foegele gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead at 15:47 of the third period, but the Blue Jackets weren't going to give up without a fight. Seth Jones tied the game up with 29 seconds remaining in the game to secure the Blue Jackets at least a point. 

After neither club scored in overtime, we went to the shootout. Oliver Bjorkstrand scored the winner to secure the Blue Jackets two points that they desperately needed. After the win tonight, the Blue Jackets are tied with the Blackhawks for the final playoff spot in the Central Division.

The Blue Jackets will take on the Hurricanes once again on Monday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 P.M. at Nationwide Arena.
