As the best chance of the UFA to re-sign, I've been trying to figure out what it will take to keep him. I assume full term is a given, so is it something like $8mil x 8? That is what Ryan Johansen signed at Nashville.

Before any potential buyout, we have 30 mil in cap space with Zach being due 4.5. If we can land Duchene at 8x8, we have to see if Bread will bite at a $10x8. Still being in their late 20s with a rising cap, that isn't a bad deal. 

Pittsburgh is in cap hell. According to Spotrac, they are 18 players taking up $80 million. We are at 17 contract players with $30 mil space.

As far as buyouts, I'd argue for a Wennberg buyout over a Dubi buyout according to the buyout calculators. Dubi brings it during the playoffs, and yes his is overpaid but for two more years I can deal with that.
