Oh captains, our captains!

The Columbus Blue Jackets unveiled their captains for the 2018-2019 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, one day ahead of their season opener against the Detroit Red Wings. The leadership group consists of forwards Nick Foligno, Cam Atkinson and Boone Jenner, and defenseman Seth Jones.

Foligno will be heading into his fourth season serving as captain of the team, alongside Jenner who will be have been an alternate captain for the same number of years.

The newcomer (but well deserving) Atkinson, a long-time member of the Jackets who signed a seven-year extension last fall, earned his way into the leadership group for the first time as an alternate captain.

Jones, who was a rotating alternate captain in the previous season as well, will wear the "A" on his sweater on a rotating basis with Atkinson, while Jenner and Foligno will have a letter full-time.

There is surely no surprise that this core represents the Blue Jackets on and off the ice, and have played key roles for one of the league's youngest teams.
