It may just be a blip but it looks like the Columbus Blue Jackets are on the verge of a streak.

It has been an odd season for Columbus. Another win would put them back on the track to normalcy.

They are once again facing off against the Dallas Stars. The Stars record hasn't been what they had hoped so far considering their pedigree from last season, yet they can't be discounted. They have talent in spades.

The number of postponed games for the Stars due to Covid-19 may make this an odd season for them as well. They can't find consistency and when they do, they can't rely on just one player.

Columbus is rolling and it is on the backs of their offense and strong goaltending. Sneakily, the defense is exiting the zone a lot easier and because of it, it is translating all over the ice. If they can continue to move the puck north and south, that will do wonders for the team in the long haul.

Here's a look at tonight's projected (and subject to change) lines for Columbus:

Storylines

  • OPPORTUNISTIC BLUE JACKETS: For maybe the first time this entire season, the Blue Jackets really controlled the game. That doesn't mean with stats or on the scoreboard but with their forecheck. The team was consistently buzzing around the puck and it made the Stars life hard. They weren't able to generate much when it mattered most.
  • JENNER-ATOR: While others on the team are scoring goals because it is what their job on the team entails, forward Boone Jenner is showing up on a nightly basis and being everything the team needs. If they need the ball of energy player that brings up all the other players he has been that. Most recently, he has been the goalscorer they need and he has made it his business to get on the score sheet often. If he can maintain this while others find their game, it will do wonders for their contending chances.
  • WHO IS NEXT?: Over the past couple of games, different players are stepping up and making it difficult for the team to take them out of the lineup. Simply, they are finding themselves in a good groove. Names like Max Domi and Emil Bemstrom seem poised to score some goals given the opportunities they've had over the past couple of games. Given how Jenner and others have stepped up, the Blue Jackets need to get their entire team involved.
